How to prolong the longevity of perfume on your skin?

What can you do to make your perfume last longer?
Who of us would not like to enjoy the company of our favourite fragrance all day long? Although scent can be fleeting, there are effective ways to prolong the longevity of perfume on the skin.
Why does perfume not last on my skin?
For many people, perfume is an integral part of everyday life. Some of us cannot imagine leaving home without applying the favourite fragrance. However, if we find ourselves in a situation where we are unable to do so, we feel uncomfortable – as if we had forgotten to take something with us from home.
Perfume is an important element in expressing our personality and style. That is why we want the fragrance notes we identify with to accompany us throughout the day at work and after work, during social meetings. Unfortunately, sometimes the unique scent evaporates quite quickly, and we do not always have the time or possibility to reach for the bottle again.
Why do perfumes last so briefly on the skin? There may be several reasons. Most often, however, the sources of our problems are dry skin, incorrect application of the product or even external factors such as humidity or temperature. Although we cannot control everything, there are ways to prolong the durability of perfume on the skin.
Skin type and perfume longevity
When discussing the longevity of perfumes, the importance of skin type cannot be ignored. Generally speaking, oily skin absorbs fragrances longer than dry skin. Any fragrance mists or perfumes will therefore last longer on oily skin. It is important for people with this skin type to be careful about the amount of fragrance they apply so as not to cause discomfort to others. On the other hand, people with dry skin should ensure that it is properly moisturised by using dedicated cosmetics. This will allow the applied fragrances to remain with them for longer.
How to prolong the longevity of perfume on your skin?
- The right way to apply perfume
How many of us are aware of the correct way to apply perfume to the skin? Although it may seem shocking, it turns out that quite a large number of people do not do it correctly. So what is the correct way to apply perfume? First of all, the skin should be clean and washed. We perfume the most blood-rich parts of the body, i.e. the inner sides of the wrists, the crooks of the elbows, the knees, the neck and the body under the breasts. Remember not to rub the composition applied to the skin, as the fragrance will not evaporate properly. By applying it in this way, we increase the chances that our favourite scent will stay with us longer.
- Moisturised skin
Perfume will last longer on properly nourished and moisturised skin. Therefore, it is worth taking care of your skin all year round. A balanced diet and cosmetics with regenerative properties will not only improve the appearance of your skin, but also allow you to enjoy your favourite fragrance for much longer. Those with dry skin can additionally apply a thin layer of odourless vaseline to the area of application. Alternatively, you can use a neutral-smelling oil.
- After a shower or bath
When is the best time to apply perfume? Immediately after a warm bath or shower. The pores of the skin are open at this time, allowing them to better absorb any substances, including perfume. This means that the fragrance has a chance to last longer.
- Application on hair
Perfume can be applied not only to the skin, but also to the hair. The molecules of the fragrance composition are well absorbed into the hair structure. This is why the fragrance remains noticeable for a long time after application. How to apply perfume to hair? It is best to spray it towards the ceiling, keeping a distance, and then walk into the mist created.
- Proper storage of perfume
If we want our favourite fragrance to last, it is important to ensure that the bottle is stored in the right conditions. First of all, we need to be aware of what can affect the quality of perfume. Factors such as humidity, high temperatures and light (both artificial and sunlight) can cause changes in the fragrance composition and reduce the product’s durability. Although we usually store perfume in the bathroom, it is worth bearing in mind that the conditions there are generally not optimal. A much better solution is to place the perfume bottles in a lockable cabinet at room temperature.
